The Saint Anselm Journal publishes both historically based articles on Anselm—along with his predecessors, and those he influenced—and systematic articles on topics of interest to him, such as what we can know about God, the reality of human freedom, and the relations between of faith and reason in the dynamic Catholic intellectual tradition of faith seeking understanding. These systematic articles include studies from the whole history of philosophy and theology.

This week, we are saying goodbye to our wonderful Marketing Assistant, Olivia Schmitz. Olivia has been with us since 2021 and has made her mark, taking on design work for book & journal covers, formatting catalogs, and even creating this very blog. While we are sad to see her go, we are very excited to see what she has in store for her next adventure! Before she starts her new journey, we asked her a few questions about her time working at the Press.

In the Catholic Church of the early nineteenth century, no formal and absolute condemnation of slavery as an institution existed. Although recognizing abuses in the system, the Church did not see slavery as a moral evil in itself but as a result of original sin.

Armenian theologians have been reading and responding to developments in Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and Protestant theological thought for a long time, now. My hope is that SNTR will provide new insights into longstanding concerns from an understudied Christian tradition outside the “mainstream,” while simultaneously enlarging our sense of what constitutes that mainstream.
