Welcoming New Distributed Press Ediciones Rialp!
Press Release
The Catholic University of America Press is pleased to announce a publishing agreement with Ediciones Rialp, a Spanish-language publisher based in Madrid. Under this agreement, starting with its Fall 2024 catalog, the Press will distribute in the United States many of Rialp’s most popular titles, including some Spanish-language editions of books by Pope Benedict XVI, St. John Paul II, Bishop Fulton Sheen, St. Josemaría Escrivá, and Bishop Robert Barron. The books include introductions to the thought of Pope Francis, classic works such as Teresa of Avila’s Way of Perfection (Camino de Perfección) and Cervantes’ The Curious Impertinent (El Curioso Impertinente). Well-known works that are now available in Spanish editions are by authors including C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, Dorothy Day, Flannery O’Connor, Scott Hahn, Brant Pitre, and Jacques Philippe.
“CUA Press is thrilled to publish these books, which will make some of the best works of theology available to Spanish-speaking readers in the United States,” said press director Dr. Trevor Lipscombe. “As Pope Francis tells us, ‘We need to strengthen the conviction that we are one human family,’ and we hope that the books we publish and distribute will unite English—and Spanish—speaking readers who belong to a family that seeks to understand the Catholic faith, and live it, more fully.”
“Ediciones Rialp,” says Santiago Herraiz, its publisher and CEO, “is delighted to enter into a distribution agreement with the Catholic University of America Press. Our shared commitment to disseminating high-quality books to a wide audience makes us ideal publishing partners. We’ve already collaborated together on translation projects, so we look forward to working together more closely.”
—CUA Press was founded in 1939 as the publishing division of the University. It publishes more than 50 new titles each year and distributes 17 journals.
